- However, it would probably be nice to declare "as-is" in your ad, so as
- not to mislead people. Also, people tend to trust a little bit more when
- you specify "non-DOA or your money back". I always do -- both ways.

- As I found out, it's quite easy to get ripped off by people who make such
- claims. _Not_ that I'm questioning you, but you have to be careful, no?

- Which is why I posted here. Don't get me wrong, a guy ripped me off about
- a non-existant CMD HD (he posted here and I replied, probably far enough
- back that most here don't remember). His last mailing said he just
- shipped it out, but after two weeks of no HD and repeated mailings to him,
- I called my local PD. Three weeks after that, he actually called me
- voice, claiming that he had been out of town all that month and that
- someone hacked his account (yeah right, sending money to what he admitted
- was his true address?). He said he was moving and gave me his "temporary"
- phone number, and, well, it was no problem for him to stop answering to
- e-mail soon afterward.
-
- This is not to insinuate that you're trying to rip anyone off, but please
- understand that some of us, hopefully only a few, have been burned rather
- badly and tend to be distrustful. I sell Commie stuff through
- comp.sys.cbm, and I always give my full information up front (as well as
- through my University, which could easily track me down if I were
- suspected of fraud).
